This photojournalism feature story was commissioned by Arena Magazine. The narrative of the piece illustrated how assassins believe their sacred tattoos and amulets make them immune to knife and gun attack. The story followed two characters, Mr 100 Corpses who is a hit-man and a policeman nicknamed Rambo, who is known to be a tough gang buster, no nonsense cop. The featuring images start with Rambo, then move on to Mr 100. The portfolio ends with a picture of Bangkok’s city morgue. This is one of Jonathan Taylor’s sets that come up often when he is interviewed about his work- ‘How did he gain access’- the answer is always the same as with any photojournalism, work step by step, contact by contact, gaining ‘an in’ and trust of the subject is rather critical. Even more so on this photography assignment.
